Alright, so there was some talk in IRC about organizing another tourney to regain some of the users we lost during downtime. It's still in early stages of development, so I'd love to hear some opinions on it.
Should it be on Shoddy/PO or wifi?
Where would be some good places to advertise such a tourney?
When should it be held?
What are some possible prizes?
Thank you for contributing, and stay tuned for more news on it's organization.

I'd say it would be best to allow people to use whatever works for them. Personally I prefer having battles on wifi, but I know that some people find it much easier to use Shoddy for obvious reasons. I say we can leave it up to the participants to agree upon their arena with their opponent each round. If push comes to shove, everyone can access Shoddy, but those of us who might want to can go right ahead and use PBR for all the 3d goodness it provides.

As for rules, I'm liking Smogon's updated OU list less and less the more I look at it, but that's just personal preference. I'd say that if we plan on basing this even partially on wifi and the real games, it would be best if we played by TCPi's official ruleset for this year's tournaments. It makes sure that those who prepared for it can enter without having to jump through hoops to tailor their teams, and it conforms to a fairly standard set of rules that most people could agree on.

As for where to advertise, well I would avoid blatant whoring of the tournament/site, but perhaps simply adding a link to the tourney thread (once we establish the details) to a signature, etc. would be a nice middle ground. Those of us who can do so without causing butthurt would also be welcome to alert /po/ about this again, although it will be less "us vs them" and more free-for-all I would hope.

As for time... I can't say exactly what would be best, as everyone is likely to have their own schedules. I for one can have internet access for battles just about any time I need to being that I set my own schedule, so I don't have too much useful input there.

Finally on to the prizes. I don't know what anyone else wants, but if it's a pokémon as a prize then I could definitely help there. Anything else and I might be able to pitch in a few dollars to whatever the prize might be, but I can't promise anything.

So, anyone else have something to add?

I could probably pitch in a few dollars for some prize if we decide on something like that instead of a Pokémon.

And, I could do Wifi or a Shoddy/PO, either one works. The only issue I would have with one or the other would depend on the date that's decided. If it's soon then I would probably have to place my vote in for Online Sim. rather than Wifi (Not implying that the time be set a long time from now, I'd say the sooner the better). I would just like to know everyone Else's schedule; same as Nona, I don't really know what the best time would be.
For specifics, I'll go ahead and say most Wednesday nights and some Fridays (and the weekend following those Fridays) would be bad in my case. But Most weekdays/-ends from 1pm EST and on, are fine by me. For something special like this, I could probably adjust for most anything.

Just a small input and also a commitment for my participation. I'll think about prizes, advertisments, etc. and get back on this.

I'd honestly prefer it to be held on Shoddy for all those who might be having circumstantial problems that'd keep them from participating, seeing as the big picture here appears to be for everyone to participate and enjoy themselves. I agree with Nona about Smogon's recent tier shifts, my opinion counting as someone who is heavily affected by the changes.

And the prize... a Pokemon would be trophy enough for me, though I don't have suggestions as to what Pokemon it should be.

Current TCPi rules use doubles, so Shoddy would be out of the question. Also, I don't think TCPi ruleset is a good idea overall, since few people have VGC teams compared to usual ones, while some doesn't even know what VGC stands for.

Honestly, I reckon PO is the best bet for such a tournament. Shoddy is outdated.

A VGC type tourney doesn't sound like a good idea at all, especially since it wouldn't really even be prepping for the VGC at all anyways.
I'd prefer the use of a web simulator, be it smogon or PO, since wifi is a huge limiter.
Dunno what to think of when it should be held or prizes, sorry.

Do want a tourney to be in PO

Easy access for EVERYONE and more importantly, it's much easier to use and looks much better than Shoddy.

After playing around on PO, I agree.
Waaaaaay better than shoddy.

What's PO?

Pokémon Online. Sorta like Shoddy 2.0 when it gets right down to it.

What wasn't really well declared was that you sign up with one team on here, and then you may only use that team throughout the tournament. Battles will be a mixture of singles and doubles.
