As a casual gamer who dabbles in everything, The Conduit was no Halo and nor was it a Call of Duty. High Voltage Software had a goal, and they developed their own engine to make it go. Granted Tournament of Legends was very bad, but Conduit was an innovative idea that I think is getting a bit too much negative attention.

I would like to be the voice of reason if I can. After seeing news of HVS lay offs, and the fact that no publishers are giving them new projects by the looks of it, I am worried for this Companies future. There is a possible cancelation for The Grinder what with these new developments, and the fact that now most of HVS' remaining personnel are digging away at The Conduit's sequel.

The downfall of The Conduit was its glitches and its bugs. Many, including myself, thought of it as a giant Beta with a $50 price tag. Despite this I still find things to like about the game. The story, the gameplay, and the controls are all among my most liked parts of the game. Though levels were very linear and enemies copy and pasted, the control and frame rate stayed pretty solid for a Halo-esque type shooter on a system that HVS pushed the limit on.

There was a lack of in game cut scenes as well, but I was actually fascinated by the moments that did have action in them. A few scenes in the first were done in first person, sort of like Red Steel 2 if you've played the game. I liked this and found it interesting. It doesn't bother me that we didn't see Mr. Fords face.

The online play is decent, but came to a short falling when hackers and glitch exploiters started popping out of the woodwork. I still find myself going online despite this and having some of the best experiences in the rare glitch and hack free match. The voice work was also very good using 3 voices a lot should recognize (Kevin Sorbo, Mark Shepherd, and William Shepherd).

The outside elements of the story weren't spoon fed, you had to find radios and listen in, an element I enjoyed.

HVS pulled off a brilliant worthwhile experiment and gave the wii something I think should be remembered. The company also seems to be encouraging Nintendo to change its tactics with the online community.

Several perks of the upcoming sequel that fix what was wrong with the first game are: 1. A downloadable patch system that will allow for balancing and patching of glitches and other things. 2. Less linear levels with multiple paths. 3. All enemies now have a parts shuffling system to ensure you aren't running into the same looking guard over and over again. 4. Boss battles with actual bosses (for those who played the first game, you will remember the disappointment of the copy and pasted Invader)

There's more, and I'm not trying to overhype it. I'm pointing out that through failures, the company can learn to fix its mistakes. I would like to spread word, and implore people to at least try out this game when its released (meaning Conduit 2). I respect HVS for what they have done, and what they have tried to do, and would hate to see them collapse.

Thanks Red, and yeah, the Conduit was generic, but I hear the second one won't be. Regardless, this is more about supporting a companies ambition for tackling the wii exclusively rather than spreading around like most third party developers.

Just because they made mistakes doesn't mean they should be punished for it. It was their first big venture, I say give them one more chance.

HVS has promised that they can do better, and has admitted they made mistakes with the first one. That's pretty decent for a company. They talk to their fan base, and are involved in the community. So there is hope for them. I would hate to see a company like that fail.

Trust me, if I find Conduit 2 to be a love-hate game like its predecessor, I'll probably go off their games. However right now, I still have hope. So I'm doing what I can to gain them support.

I enjoyed the single player, even if it was a little bland. The fact that it was a fresh title that attempted to do something on its own was neat, and the way the story was told, as well as the narrative itself hooked me. I'll be really disappointed if the second is as hit-and-miss as the first, but I'll probably still enjoy it regardless.

Wish I knew what that said, I know its the alien text but I don't have the decoder handy. I seem to remember you mentioning that you actually made a font for it, but I'm not sure. Anyways, nice to see you on board Nona.

and post No. 1339 was me...not used to firefox not remembering my name any more for some random reason when I make posts.
