I dunno, maybe I'm just weird but I really don't agree with most of the opinions here. I really liked 3 because it was the first movie where they didn't force Ash into a "LOL GO SAVE THE WORLD ONLY YOU CAN BECAUSE YOUR THE PROTAGONIST" role. Which is also a big part of my liking movie 5 as well- that and I'm a fag for the Eon twins.
Movie 1 was pretty good, but when you compare the original to the dub, I actually like the dub BETTER here (gasp!) because of the original score they had orchestrated for the movie. The script might have been switched up by 4kids, but the orchestral music throughout was something that the original was painfully missing. Favotire quote: the "my bike" line. You know what I'm talking about... XD
Movie 2... I didn't like that much. Now don't get me wrong, Lawrence III looked like a pretty cool guy, he fucks up the balance of nature for the sake of "collecting" Lugia, but... Firstly there was the completely non-sequitur inclusion of the ancient Mew card, which was just 4kids whoring out the TCG in the middle of the movie. On top of that, the whole movie has som many logical holes and convenient coincidences that just piled one on top of the next... I could go on, but most of my gripes with the movie are shared by Dragonfree, who has done a better job than I could here with explaining some of that. Favorite quote: Tracey's pseudo-science (and coincidentally completely wrong) explanation of "FIRE PLUS LIGHTNING PLUS WATER EQUALS BOMB!!!1ELEVEN!" when they were on the airship.
Movie 3. I can't say anything particularly spectacular about the movie, but I was intrigued by Mollie as a character, and liked that Ash actually FIT IN with the story this time rather than being thrown into a plot that somehow involved world destruction and legendary pokémon. I guess my biggest gripe here was (among a few) the fact that Team Rocket had almost no interaction with the main characters at all.
Movie 4 was a mix for me; I liked the Marauder because he was a legitimately evil and competent and scary villain for a change, and there was the whole time-travelling Sammy thin
