On a forum I'm on we're working on making two custom versions for Flash, I've been wondering then if its' possible for the real versions (especially D/P/P) to be made for Flash?

With save slates and everything.

Oh and gameshark/cheat accessable.

Think about it, if this works it should resolve most if not all the issues invovled with emulating DS games.

Flash as in Adobe Flash or Flash as in burned onto flash memory?

The first, not so possible, unless you have a willing team of veteran actionscripters. Although I don't really like it, you'd be better off making it in Java, it's much more flexible than AS.

The second, slightly easier, but I have no experience with that sort of thing :3.

Adobe Flash and the people we're using are in their early teens so I think it's possible to do.

It may be possible if you've all studied under an Actionscript guru for over three years. Seriously, putting something like Pokemon Platinum into flash is ridiculous. I agree with Ross, if you're seriously thinking about doing this, go with Java.

I'm not sure if I understand you right, but it's impossible to emulate D/P/Pt on flash. There's shitload of reasons why it's impossible, but the most important one is that there's absolutely no way for flash to render 3d.

Well maybe they could just not do it in 3d? Is there anyway this idea could work?

You'd have more luck porting a current open source DS emulator to Java than actually trying to make the ROM open with Java.

... Even if it is thouasands of lines of code, noone said it was gonna be easy.

In that case then how long until the DS can be emulated with the ease as the GBA (in other words, how long until there's a VBA for the DS)?

About one year and six months in the past, to be precise.

So you can use save slates and cheat codes on it without it crashing? Otherwise it's not ready yet.

It really won't hurt you if you can't save in middle of the battle. Only battle where you'd actually do that would be versus Cynthia anyway. Harden the fuck up.

Never tried the cheats myself, but I saw people using them on youtube so I assume they do work without crashing the game.

If there's a feature that needs implementing, it's wifi emulation. However, it's not going to happen considering no$gba maker seems to have abadoned the project and this is without a doubt something you can't achieve in flash with couple of pals on a forum.

What about the legendaries. I save at the very start, and when it's just about dead so I have a backup if I run out of Ultraballs.
