Lucky for me, it hasn't. Though, encountering shinies on a ROM always annoys me somewhat, despite being able to transfer pokemon from the GBA games now.

Yup. Pokemon Silver. Shiny Pidgey before I even got to Mr. Pokemon.
And no, I'm being serious. That shiny Pidgey is a death omen for gamers everywhere.

What's wrong with finding shinies on an emulator?

Most people don't have the stuff to transfer them to their real games, so they can't keep them.
More importantly though, there's ALWAYS the chance of encountering shinies, even when you're not able to catch pokemon yet. As was the case for Mr. Ruby.

I don't have a DS so I really don't care about transferring to my game. But, I haven't encountered a shiny yet. I think I encountered a shiny tentacool one time when I was a kid in that lake by the daycare below goldenrod.

The tentacool was gold I think, and I didn't catch it because was just one hit killing everything and moving on and was like AWWW FUCK and I spent the next 20 minutes searching for another shiny tentacool.

I do have a gameboy advance and pokemon Ruby though... so is there a way to transer gamesharked pokemon on emulator to my game cartridge?

Playing Ruby on my Homebrew a few weeks back.
On my first trip to the Pokemon center, I'm told I've got PokeRus.
