Figuring it's okay to put this here.
Opinion on the DSi XL?
It's pretty much a DSi but a lot bigger.
I personally don't mind it as it just feels like it's catering to fans who liked the DS Phat for it's hugeness.
If people still want a small DS they can still get a DSi or a DSlite, so it really isn't a problem, just more choices.
So overall, I'm happy about the new DS.
How about you?
(Oh and the DSi XL(LL) comes with two stylus, a big one and a small one, only the small one has a pouch, so you are pretty much expected to lose the big one.)

I may or may not get one depending on you guys' recommendations, how much it costs, and if it supports GBA games as I've given up with them supporting GBC games again.

I'd like to also point out that I do not have a DS. My sister has one though.

I'd have to suggest the original DS or the DSlite simply because those two have GBA support.

I can not f***ing believe this. I'm even more disgusted than when they announced the DSi. What the heck - are they going to release the DSi Micro, now? Also, realise the name of this freaking machine: D-S-I-X-L
-_-

Maybe this is the original model of the DSi, though, and it'll have the two slots. In that case, I might have to continue to bend to Nintendo's spoon feeding the consumer.

Also, /vidya/ works good for vidya things.

Get a DS Lite. In my opinion, it has a better screen than the old DS and it still has GBA support.

The DSi failed due to replacing the GBA slot with a fricken SD slot. What the hell. Even if Nintendo did a virtual console sort of thing, I don't want to play all the old popular games on GBA that Nintendo thinks will sell, I want awesome games.
If someone makes a homebrew thing like the wii and puts a GB emulator on that however, I would be happy.

I regularly play GBC games on my DS using my Acekard2. It's called lameboy, and it works like a charm.

Or if you mean one for the Wii, VBA GX loads any Gameboy-series game fine: from mono games circa-Tetris and Super Mario Land all the way up to the last GBA games ever released.

i got my dsi because i had the fat and a gba and gba sp(all of which i still have) i love flipnote studio and the internet browser is ok(this post is from my dsi) they do need to update so youtube works because everyone is making petitions on flipnote hetena. when you buy 1 you get 1000 free dsi points but all of the gams suck except birds & beans and mighty flip champs looks cool i dont have it cuz i bought stupid games but i read about it in nintendo power.

Slow down bud, that post was a single sentence.

I doubt the tiny hardware has the power for most Youtube vids, even at low quality. You need to remember that it uses Flash and Javascript, which haven't been optimised at all to run on it.

As for the DSi points, I can't really comment, though it sounds like it's full of scam and micropurchasing.

You obviously didn't get Art Style: PictoBits. That is hands-down the best DSiWare game, and for only 500 points, too! Also, March of the Minis is fun if you didn't play the original Mario vs DK games.

You're absolutely right- I really doubt we'll ever see flash on the DS. Javascript maybe, but even the PSP can have a tough time with actionscript-heavy flash files, and last I heard it still wouldn't consistently load embedded flash files (Youtube is/was only viewable using a special homebrew app).

And the DSi Store is just about the same as the Wii Shop channel: mostly crap, but there's a few really good games in there too. I'm just waiting for them to make DSi Virtual Console games of the old handhelds. GBC games installed on my DSi for two to five dollars and I'll be all over that like white on rice. Make them able to use the DS's wireless hardware for link cable emulation and I would probably die from happiness.

my rice is brown...
but anyways i agree that would be so sick that i would probably consider buying a DSi
