(just finished typing this as you were leaving IRC- heh)
Personally, I think it'd be fun to get another Pokémon game, just to start a new file. I like playing through the story. Platinum would be your option, here - it's different, and in a better way. But there's also a lot of different, great stuff for a permanent file. Like the post-elite four additions/changes.
-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, possibly Portrait of Ruin.
I think you need Castlevania above all else. It's a short game (20-ish hours) but you can new game+ (I'm pretty sure), and you can go for a 100% file.
-Chrono Trigger
Excellent candidate for playing for long times, and replay value, I think. The story motivates you to play more, and there are different endings/different things that can happen based on how you react to people and play.
-Kirby Super Star Ultra
Possibly, if you like Kirby games. If you've already played Super Star, though, you probly won't like this. It's a game where you play the levels a lot and learn all the different characters you can suck up, by using their powers. And then, having this mass storage of enemy abilities in your head, and apply that to OTHER enemies/bosses.
MAYBE Yoshi's Island DS. I personally find it fun, but I'm not sure on the length/replay value.
I could recommend smaller, more short-spurt-playing/mini-game-y games, but I don't think these suit your needs.
Other RPGs to possibly consider: Contact, Suikoden Tierkreis, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, Avalon Code
And lesser to those (in my mind):
Knights in the Nightmare (SRPG/shooting?!), Summon Night, Luminous Arc/2 (SRPG), Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (mystery dungeon-y), Etrian Odyssey/2 (if you like first person "see where you're going as if you're actually walking there" SMT-y oldie RPGs)
Oh, and N+ - it seems like you've played it, elsewhere. The DS game has a FEW lacking things, compared to the other versions. But the levels are basically really hard puzzles that you have to maneuver through with deft finger skills. And lots of dying and learning/perfecting.
