The ones I would choose are: Gyarados, Pikachu, Onix, Caterpie, Bulbasuar, and Aerodactyl. I would choose these to have in real life, not to have for battling. The decisions are based partly on playing the games, but mostly the anime. :) Because caterpie is an almost worthless pokemon, but he is so cuuute!

Maybe it's me, but I thought that the plot of the show, movies, manga, etc. was supposed to drill into us was that pokémon aren't just tools for trainers to use for their own benefit. It does seem like a bit ironic that the main character should then rely on pokémon to do simple things like clearing a path, climbing a rock face, etc. when those are all things the trainer should be perfectly capable of doing on their own.

The people of the pokemon world are just humongous hypocrites.

Maybe we're beginning with the end in mind, plus not sure if evos are allowed since 6 total implies no evos. My previous post in this thread was accidentally deleted, so I'll have another go. Assuming it's a realistic world, and legendary monsters are infact legendary, right now, I'm thinking:

Porygon-Z - Experimental digital monster.
Farfetch'd - This guy would be out at all times. DUX, a true friend.
Rhydon - Rhyperior still feels really weird.
Exeggutor - Psychic/Grass, what a cool combo.
Lapras - Water excursion transport/Ice-type. Also friend I guess =P
Rotom - Another neat combo, who can possess electronics.

Obviously these could change. I'm particularly unsure about the last 3, actually. But I'm certain they would all be valuable friends and team members.
