Pokemon? Lose its popularity? NEVER. Seriously, what has it been, over ten years? Still going strong. And everyone love Charizard.

Anyway, I guess this is a random Pokemon pic thread. Contributing.

Venusaur is Mega-Awesome and all, but Charizard has 4X resistance to it's Grass STAB's and also 2 ways of wrecking Venusaur bad, offensively; Fire/Flying. The best Venusaur can do is unleash it's poison.

Typing isn't all that matters in Pokemon battling. Venasaur is good in a completely different way then charizard.

Good at what? BLAAAAAAARGHing?

Being one of the best tanks in the entire game, actually. Leech Seed / Energy Ball / Sleep Powder / Sludge Bomb works pretty well for me. He's currently the single most-popular Pokemon in the UU metagame on Smogon. Charizard has no claim to fame, being 4x weak to Stealth Rock and having TBolt issues pretty horribly.

I wouldn't say the best or one of the best in the game, but yes venusaur is quite good. It can be used as a wall type like you mention, as well as Swords dance variant and scarf variant (basically like a scarf roserade, not used much as far as I can tell).

I don't like Choice Scarf, except on Tyranitar, but the tank variations of Venusaur are extremely good, and the Swords Dance moveset is downright scary at times.

True that.

I don't like the scarf version. If you want to do that you might as well go with roserade.

Swords Dance is scary. And tank version is just all around good.

Trust me bro's, I go Venusaur over Char anyday. And also >Typing isn't all that matters
Yes, I'm aware. I was just pointing out the obvious, not even expecting you guys to lash out Metagame on me. So, nice work fella's. I am convinced that you know your stuff.

Alright,

Stealth Rock is good, but you seem to have forgotten to menion that Charizard is one of the most used Belly Drummers, and one of the most deadly, depending on the circumstances. In the case of Belly Drumming Charizard against that Venusaur (if it chooses to stay in) Charizard will drum away while venusaur will choose to attempt at a sleep powder or try for a force switch with those seeds. Let's say seeds work, Zard's belly drum dropped it's health low enough to activate it's ability + the boost from Belly Drum + the berry it now eats to boost it's speed. Fire Fang sweep is possible now, especially for Venusaur if it even thinks about trying to stay in.

But that's just one good set for Charizard that could probably be stopped easily, and leech seed won't be nice to Charizard since its health is already halved. In the long-run, bull is right.

Actually, since every single (good) team in the history of ever has a priority user or two (or just a Tyranitar) that Charizard isn't going to kill more than one Pokemon, tops.

I mean sure, if you play it right and take out all counters that maybe you can get a Zard sweep, but if it was early game even a decent player should be able to handle a belly drum zard.

I thought we were talking Venusaur directly on Charizard? At least that is what my OP was about.

Already stated.
