Grass, because... I like grass.
Also Kirlia and Staryu.
Kirlia learns Magical Leaf, and it's green, so it's almost a grass-type. ;D
I'd use Staryu for watering my plants, not for battling (at least not gym battles). Hoppip probably wouldn't get to battle much either.
The gym would be full of flowers and stuff.
Badge would be the Petal Badge, would look like a basic pink flower. (Basic as in a buttercup or something similar-looking.)
And, uh, I'd probably be one of the first gym leaders in the region because I'm not very good at battling. :)

Dragon/Psuedo Legendary, cause theres not enough of them. Charizard, Tyranitar, Salamence, Dragonite, Flygon, Garchomp. All with whatever that extremely powerful dragon move is, or blast burn.

I'd be a dark type trainer, since the vast majority of my favorite Pokemons are part dark type.
Well, the Zangoose is an exception. I just love that one so much, since it can learn all those nifty claw-based moves.
On a side note, the Houndoom and the Umbreon are shiny.
Most frequently used would be Sableye. Umbreon would be used the least.

Bug type.

It has a pretty big disadvantage compared to more diverse types like water or flying, but they're so much cooler.

Bug types only recently became anything more than pure fail.

Breloom, Lucario, Machamp, Medicham, Poliwrath e Toxicroak.

Dragon with a random dose of Arcanine, for he is badass.

Psychic. Because I love sabrina, and have been crushing on her since I was 11. I'm 18.
Plus they have some of the best multi type combo imo.
Alakazam and Hypno because they're obligatory to me for a psychic team. Brozong to stop those pesky dark/ghost types. Gallade, because it's Gallade. Ampharos because shes my favorite, and espeons to small do some serious cuddling.

My gym would be mind fuck, Alice in wonderland style. Ocassional loud repetitive sounds, and weird clicking noises that do another on certain tiles, riddles, etc. When trainers finally arrive they'll get to me, sitting, sipping coffee, cuddling into my ampharos while Hypno and alakazam carry on riveting psionic discussions. Gallade would be in his ball, Espeon would be doing whatever she damn well pleases.
Also, there will be three tiny abra, who are the children of Abra and Hypno.

Fighting type. I would be the guy who they call ''journey's end'', destroying kids and their toys. Infernape, Primeape, Machamp, Hitmonlee and Poliwrath. No mercy, no time to think, no cry. In other hand no pluzzes and mind shit to bother, just fight fight and fight.

Because being the best doesn't mean you never lose, it just means that on average, you're head and shoulders above the rest. I could see a few specific gym leaders kicking the Elite Four's ass all up and down the pokémon league, one of which has done on at least one occasion: Green Oak. Besides that, I could honestly say I would expect the final leaders in most regions capable of surpassing their elites at least once if they diversified their team and movesets. For that matter, I think the reason certain gyms are much easier than others is that there's an implied rule that gym leaders must use certain levels and amounts of pokémon based on how many badges a competitor has.

Think of it this way: obviously a gym leader has to prove themselves somehow before they can be given the position, so it would stand to reason that despite coming at you with mid-teen-leveled pokémon, Brock actually has a stable of ass-kickingly powerful rock types, but is bound by league rules to use pokémon that are at a lower level both to make it a fair fight for beginning trainers and to keep his own tactical skills as a trainer sharp.

Back on-topic, I'd love to see this idea go further: stop forcing us to take the badges in a certain order with arbitrary HM-obstacles and migraine-suffering-Psyduck and just have the Leaders' and their lackeys change their team difficulty based on the current amount of badges (and possibly the level of the highest-leveled poke in the team, to deter people exp tanking through the whole game with only one poke).

The other thing is that not everyone wants to hold an E4/Champion position. Sure, the League positions have more clout, but as a gym leader you get a bunch of underlings to spar with and philosophize at. Which one is better is more a matter of taste.

As for the topic? Normal-type all the way for me. For the least interesting type, there's a *lot* of unique stuff you can do with it.

that is what I am assuming it is never mentioned about this. In the pokemon magna though that is the hoenn region's elite 4 and they are good guys while the kanto region's is completely different. My Guess is that it would vary from region to region.
